Penn National Gaming to Open Maryland Casino in September 2010
On Thursday Penn National Gaming Inc. stated that its new casino in Maryland will open a month earlier than expected.
The Hollywood Casino Perryville, which is located in Cecil County, is now slated to open on September 30th. The casino is expected to be completed at a cost of about $89 million.
The officials from Penn National said that the opening will generate over 350 new permanent jobs. Hiring has already started and will continue throughout the summer.
Hollywood Casino Perryville will have 1,500 video lottery terminals and a 75,000-square-foot casino. In Maryland this will be the first casino to open following a statewide referendum in 2008 which approved video lottery terminals in Baltimore, Allegany, Anne Arundel, Cecil and Worcester counties.
In Kansas and Ohio, Penn National is also developing Hollywood-themed casinos. Those are scheduled to open in 2012.
