Sam Rotar Leads Day 1B at the ANZPT Canberra
The fourth leg of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour takes place at the Casino Canberra, which is located in the capital city of Australia, Canberra.
In Day 1B of the $2,200 Main Event entered 97 players. This brought the total number of entrants to 181. Among the starters today were Tony Hachem, Chris Levick, Aleks Lackovic, Yann Pauchon, Mike Ivin, Angelo Hamataj, Peter Aristidou, and Jason Gray.
The dominant player throughout the day was Sam Rotar. Due to a huge pot late in the day he became the chip leader. Rotar holds a stack of 168,100. But he was not the only player to crack the 100,000 chip mark. Other competitors that ended play with big stacks were: Amanda Simpson (103,500) and Jesse Maguire (100,500).
Notables with chips include Michael O’Grady (91,600), Jason Gray (75,400), Martin Comer (74,300), Chris Levick (29,900) and Yann Pauchon (27,000).
During Day 1B top players hit the rail including Mike Ivin, Nik and Aleks Lackovic, Tim English and George Cotaidis.
Tomorrow 90 competitors will return at the Casino Canberra to play nine levels. From those only 21 will receive cash prizes and the winner of the tournament will walk away with the first place prize of AU$96,000.
