Waterford Man Must Give Up $2,001 Jackpot After He Banned Himself From Casinos
Last week a man from Waterford won at the Presque Isle Downs & Casino, located in Erie, Pennsylvania, a $2,001 jackpot. But because the 55-year-old man had banned himself from the state’s casinos under a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board self-help program he has to forfeit his winnings. Beside that the man will face a summary criminal trespass charge.
The gaming board offers a self-exclusion program to problem gamblers. They can choose to ban themselves from casinos for one or five years, or for life.
The Pennsylvania State Police said that the Waterford man gambled at the casino Friday.
In April 2009 he had signed up for the self-exclusion program. It is not known for how long the man had banned himself.
The casino’s spokeswoman declined to comment on the incident.
