2010 WSOP Day 2: Hoai Pham Captures Bracelet, Kirk Morrison Leads $50K Players Championship
Event 1 at the 2010 World Series of Poker, the $500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em, has come to an end. The tournament was won by the Vietnamese-born player Hoai Pham. For his performance he received $71,424 and the first bracelet of the 2010 series.
Event 1 attracted a field of 722 players. Pham took down the tournament after he defeated Arthur Vea heads-up. Pham got his opponent to call his stack off with a pair of 4s against Pham’s AA on a flop of 7d 2c Qh. Fortunately the aces held up for the Vietnamese player and he was declared the winner. Vea for the runner-up finish received $44,079.

Day 2 of the $50K Players Championship, Event 2, saw a number of 100 competitors. After another full day of play, a total of 56 players were eliminated, leaving just 54 to battle it out.
Kirk Morrison ended the day as the leader regarding the number of chips. He accumulated a total of 741,000. Andy Bloch holds the second biggest stack (716,500).
Other notables with big stacks entering day 3 include Mikael Thuritz, Robert Mizrachi, Nick Schulman, Daniel Alaei, Erik Sagstrom, Brett Richey and Alexander Kostritsyn.

During Day 2 notable players were eliminated from the competition including Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Carlos Mortensen, Jason Mercier, Patrik Antonius, Freddy Deeb, Mike Matusow, Hoyt Corkins, David Benyamine, Phil Galfond, Greg Raymer and Phil Hellmuth.
A massive field of 2,601 players turned out for Day 1A of the Event 3, the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em. Over 2,300 competitors were eliminated during the day. On Monday, the 276 survivors from Day 1A will compete as part of the combined Day 2 field.
Notable eliminations came in the form of the 2009 WSOP Main Event champ Joe Cada, North American Poker Tour Venetian Main Event runner-up Sam Stein, Alex Jacob, Jeff Madsen, Brandon Cantu, Gavin Smith and Bernard Lee.
Terry Fleischer leads the pack after Day 1A at 119,300 chips, just edging out Nancy Todd Tyner, who has 103,000.
