The 2011 Five-Star World Poker Classic Will Take Place in May Instead of April

Recently Bellagio, Las Vegas, announced that next year’s Five-Star World Poker Classic will take place in May instead of April. The $25,000 no-limit hold’em World Poker Tour Championship event will run from May 21-27, 2011.
The 2011 WSOP will begin the day after the Five-Star World Poker Classic ends. It seems that the organizers are trying the grow the players field by catching them as they arrive in Las Vegas for the WSOP.
The 2010 WPT Championship, which ended last week, attracted just 195 players. This was the second lowest number ever registered. During season 1 were recorded 111 competitors.
The Bellagio tournament director Jack McClelland was aware of the fact that with the PokerStars European Poker Tour events in San Remo and Monte Carlo, that also take place in April, the chances to attract a massive field were small. So he decided it was time for a change.
McClelland declared: “We have hosted this tournament in the same time slot for a number of years and they scheduled right on top of us. I couldn’t overcome it. Maybe they didn’t put it on top of us on purpose; it could have been the only time they had available, but it has made it tough for us.”
Bellagio has also made a few changes to the upcoming Bellagio Cup VI schedule. The buy-in for the WPT championship event will drop from $15,000 down to $10,000.

Here is a look at the adjusted schedule for the 2011 Five-Star World Poker Classic:
