WPT L.A. Poker Classic Main Event Draws 745 Players
Day 1 of the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic Main Event saw an impressive number of participants.
A total of 745 players put up the $10,000 buy-in. The prize pool reached a massive $7,152,000.
An official number of 744 was first announced, but a late tournament entry was called in which extend the field by one.
The poker pro Tom “durrrr” Dwan was that player. He couldn’t get to the Commerce Casino in time and will be forced to start Day 2 with a blinded down stack of about 15,000.
When Day 1 of the tournament came to an end 475 players remained to battle in the second day.
Poker pros who finished the day with a large number of chips included Jon Luu, Shawn Buchanan, Lisa Hamilton, Jimmy Fricke, Dan Martin, Jon Turner, J.C. Tran, Danny Wong, Mark Seif and NAPT Venetian winner Thomas Marchese. Cornel Cimpan, the winner of last year’s LAPC was eliminated.
At the WPT L.A Poker Classic 72 players will cash. The minimum amount is set at $18,595.
