WPT Southern Poker Championship Won by Hoyt Corkins
Hoyt Corkins managed to win the World Poker Tour Southern Poker Championship. For the fantastic performance he got a big prize of $739,486.
Corkins entered the final table having the biggest number of chips. On his way to win the title Corkins overcame strong challenges from players like Jared Jaffee, James Reed and Tyler Smith.
In a key pot three-handed, Corkins doubled up against Jerry Vanstrydonck’s pocket kings by spiking an ace on the river. In the final hand of heads-up play Corkins’ A-7 held up against Jonathan Kantor’s K-10. After this great move Corkins defeated his opponent and was declared the winner. Kantor for the second place took an substantial prize of $366,643.
Corkins in his career earned more than $5 million and he had numerous important results. One would be the winning of the Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2003.
