In Ukraine Poker is not Recognized as a Sport

The decision from July 1, which included poker on the list of recognized sports in Ukraine, has been annulled by the Justice Ministry.
The Justice Ministry reached this verdict after he concluded that the inclusion of poker as a sport doesn’t correspond to article 2 of the law on banning the gambling business in Ukraine. The article stipulates that the gambling business and participation in gambling are prohibited.
Due to this measure in Ukraine the number of poker tournaments increased in the last months. This phenomenon appeared as a method of avoiding the gambling ban.
