The ,,Godfather,, of Poker tells his story
Doyle Brunson life experience is very unique and it can be described as a movie script.
Brunson is a person that survived cancer, and he emerged to poker after a work accident.
He got his knowledge from the ,,Texas Poker Circuit,, where he travelled from city to city in fear of danger and the law. For many times he had to hide his identity. Once he got robbed at gunpoint and the experiences war pretty harsh. Brunson declared that people have no idea how it was in Texas in that period. This is one of the reasons he wrote the book ,,The Godfather of Poker,, .
One very interesting story is about Brunson’s relationship with Tony ‘’The Ant ‘’ Spilotro in the Las Vegas. Spilotro was the man on who was based Joe Pesci mobster character in the movie Casino.
Brunson said of Pesci that he acted exactly like Spilotro.
At first Spilotro and Brunson were not getting along pretty god. In numerous occasions Spilotro threaten him with his life because he wanted a cut form Brunson business. But as time passed they developed a respectful relationship.
Brunson represent a symbol to the past gambling era. The fact that he managed to capture all the essence of his life in a book and he keeps playing at the highest levels this days makes ,,The Godfather of Poker a great addition to the history of poker.
